What is Self-Hypnosis Relaxation?
Self Hypnosis is:
- The ability to achieve an increased internal focus (for example, being totally focused on what you are thinking about)
- Loss of interest in your surroundings (for example, have you ever been reading a book and realised that someone has been calling your name for some time yet you have only just realised – that is the same feeling you may experience during self hypnosis)
- Increased suggestibility enabling changes to occur both physically and emotionally (for example with internal focus and practice one can divert excess blood flow from the brain to the forearm, reducing migraines)
Will I lose control or do something that I wouldn’t want to?
Hypnosis cannot cause you to do something outside your value frame. With self-hypnosis you are in control at all times. You can stop the track at any time.
Does the use of hypnosis have any religious connotation?
As part of our strong ethical commitment the programme makes no suggestions that relate in any way to either religious belief or not. We have designed it so that it is suitable for people of all beliefs. It is a tool to help you achieve well being.
Can I get stuck in self hypnosis?
Every day we all go in and out of self hypnosis without even knowing. Getting lost in an exquisite piece of music activates the exact same part of the brain, as does day-dreaming and the feeling of being ‘in the zone’ that many athletes speak of. Often you may stop reluctantly but you will never get stuck.
Will I feel something new after listening to this programme?
Hypnosis is not magic, however the feeling of well being that you may achieve by focusing on positive relaxing and advantageous thoughts, whilst listening to this audio programme, will permeate other areas of your life.
Is this like stage hypnosis?
Stage hypnosis is entertainment and utilises suggestions and techniques intended to entertain. These may or may not be helpful to those hypnotised. Stage hypnosis is a different technique to self hypnosis and has a very different aim. Subjects are seen to behave in outlandish ways (seemingly outside their value frame). This can often be attributed to pressure to perform to audiences. However, with self hypnosis the motivation comes from you.
Can anyone experience the benefits of this programme?
Anyone can benefit from listening to these audio tracks. You don’t have to be a special type of person. Like most activities the degree to which you commit to it will determine what ultimately you will draw from it.
