Trying To Get Pregnant – Top 5 Tips For Getting Pregnant From an Experienced Former Midwife – Tip 1

by Diana Tibble

In a weekly update Diana Tibble, an experienced former midwife and fertility hypnotherapy expert, shares her Top Tips for Getting Pregnant Quickly

There is so much advice out there about how to get pregnant quickly, what to do and what not to do. When you are starting out it can become quite boggling as to where to start.

For those trying to get pregnant – I reckon you need to keep it simple – too many newspapers obsessing over every bit of current research can actually work against becoming pregnant and I’ll explain how below but first… why listen to me?…

  • I was a midwife and community midwife for over 15 years, I run preparation for birth courses and have done so for many years
  • I have a thriving hypnotherapy practice and have helped many couples have a positive birth experience.
  • I regularly lecture to the BSCAH (British Society of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis)on fertility and obstetrics hypnotherapy

Anyway that’s enough about me, this is my considered, simple advice -

Tip 1 – Take Positive Steps to Relax

Getting Pregnant takes time – unlike so many things in our modern lives the ancient process of becoming pregnant isn’t instant or “on-demand”. It takes time.

Stress inhibits fertility, period. In just the same way that you may have noticed chronic stress inhibits your periods too. It boils down to this – stress is a remnant of a survival mechanism that helped us fight or run from “a perceived threat” over many thousands of years. These days the need to fight or run isn’t that frequent; never-the-less the body still reacts to “threats” in just the same way. If you appear to need to fight or run from danger constantly then your body is going to think that trying to get pregnant is not only low priority but could be dangerous to your survival.

So it is easy to recognise why your body is trying to look after your best interests in that way… but how to relax so our desire to beocme pregnant and our nervous system work together?

Well first notice I didn’t say “try to relax” or “relax” – because the sure fire way of making sure you can’t relax is to be told by someone to.

There are many positive ways to relax and some of them focus on curing the symptoms (like massage for knotted muscles etc.) I’d recommend tackling stress at the cause – “the perception” in the perceived threat mentioned above. I have used and trained people in self-hypnosis relaxation techniques for many years and find it to be by far the most effective and long term solution. Hypnosis relaxation techniques are a powerful way of reducing stress and boosting your fertility. If you want to learn more about hypnosis for relaxation then feel free to read around this blog. Many of our articles and all of our products centre around empowering you to use Self-Hypnosis techniques to enhance your life, so have a read. Here are some useful tagged articles on the subject.
